Professor Mona Nada, MD

Professor Mona Nada is a Consultant Neurologist and Professor of Neurology at Cairo University, Egypt. She obtained her MBBCh degree from Cairo University in 1996, followed by a Master's degree in Neurology in 2000 and an MD in Neurology in 2005 from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University.
She works at Cairo University Hospitals, one of the largest tertiary healthcare and academic centers in the Middle East and North Africa. The Department of Neurology at Cairo University is recognized as a regional training center for Africa and actively contributes to Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs in collaboration with international neurological organizations.
Professor Nada is currently Co-Chair of the Cluster Headache Special Interest Group of the International Headache Society (IHS), a Board Member of the Child and Adolescent Headache Special Interest Group of the IHS, and Regional Head for North Africa within the African Headache Network (AHEAD). She also serves as Coordinator of the Kasr Al-Ainy Headache and Related Disorders Unit (KAHDU) at Cairo University Hospitals and is a Board Member of the Headache Chapter of the Egyptian Society of Neurology, Psychiatry and Neurosurgery.
In addition, she is a member of the IHS Women’s Leadership Forum and the Headache MENAA Study Group. Since 2008, Professor Nada has been actively involved in headache research, with a particular focus on migraine, cluster headache, headache disorders in special populations, and multiple sclerosis. She has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications in national and international journals.
Professor Nada serves on the Editorial Board of BMC Neurology and was Guest Editor of the Africa Focus Special Edition of The Journal of Headache and Pain. She is also a reviewer for several high-impact international journals and was recognized as Outstanding Reviewer of the Year 2025 by Cephalalgia Reports.
Throughout her academic career, she has supervised numerous Master's and doctoral theses in neurology at Cairo University. She is also committed to medical education and has volunteered to deliver a comprehensive free course in headache medicine for neurologists and non-neurologists under the patronage of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate.
