There is extensive hyperintensity in periventricular and deep white matter in keeping with a leukoencephalopathy. There is sparing of the subcortical white matter. The major abnormality is abnormal T2 prolongation in cerebral white matter, without involvement of corpus callosum, internal capsule, brain stem and cerebellum or other structural abnormalities
