Dr. Emna Farhat, MD, PhD Student

Dr. Emna Farhat is a neurologist and myologist with extensive experience in neuromuscular disorders, muscle pathology, and neurodegenerative diseases. She completed her Doctor of Medicine degree in 2012 with a thesis investigating phenotype–genotype correlations in 300 Tunisian patients with autosomal recessive limb-girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMDR).
From 2012 to 2016, she served as a neurologist at the Mongi Ben Hamida National Institute of Neurology in Tunis, working within the neuro-muscular biopsy unit of the pathology and molecular neurobiology laboratory. During this period, her scientific work focused primarily on neurodegenerative diseases and muscle pathology.
Since 2017, Dr. Farhat has been practicing neurology in the private sector in Tunis. In 2019, she became the head of THE MUSCLE LAB, a specialized laboratory dedicated to muscle biopsies, histoenzymology, and muscle immunohistochemistry.
She obtained a Diploma in Myology from Sorbonne University, Paris in 2020, with a dissertation on juvenile inflammatory myopathies.
In 2025, she began pursuing a PhD in Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis, under the supervision of the Clinical Immunology Department at the Pasteur Institute of Tunis, focusing on advanced research in neuromuscular and immunological diseases.
