Maria Roberta Cilio, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Pediatric Neurology at University of Louvain School of Medicine, Brussels, Belgium. She serves a neonatal and pediatric epileptologist at Saint-Luc University Hospital in Brussels, Belgium. She is the former director of Pediatric Epilepsy Research and director of Neonatal Neuromonitoring at the Benioff Children’s Hospital, University of California San Francisco, where she received the Presidential Chair award in 2011. Before joining UCSF, she was the Director of Neonatal Neurology and Neurophysiology at the Bambino Gesú Children’s Hospital in Rome, Italy. She served as a member of the ILAE Task Force on Neonatal Seizures where she contributed to the development of the new classification for seizures and epilepsies in the neonate. In addition to early onset epilepsies. She is a board member of the European Paediatric Neurology Society. Dr. Cilio has a special interest and expertise in neonatal and pediatric neurocritical care. Her research focus on diagnosis, phenotyping, and treatment of seizures and epilepsies in the newborn.
