Jonathan W. Mink, MD PhD is Child Neurologist and Consultant living in Pittsford. NY. He retired in 2023 from the University of Rochester, where he was the Frederick A. Horner Distinguished Professor in Pediatric Neurology; Professor of Neurology,
Neuroscience, and Pediatrics; and Chief of Child Neurology. Dr. Mink received his BA (Biology-Psychology) and MA (Psychology) from Wesleyan University and his MD and PhD (Neuroscience) from Washington University.

He completed residency training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Neurology at Washington University / St. Louis Children’s Hospital. After completing a fellowship in Movement Disorders, he joined the faculty at Washington University in 1994 before being recruited to the University of Rochester in 2001. He launched the University of Rochester Child Neurology Residency in 2003 and served as the residency Program Director for 10 years.

Dr. Mink’s research program has focused on Batten Disease and movement disorders in children. Clinically, he specialises in pediatric movement disorders with special interests in dystonia and Tourette Syndrome. He is recognised internationally for his work and clinical expertise in pediatric movement disorders, Batten Disease, and basal ganglia physiology. He is the author of over 150 peer-reviewed publications and is co-author of “Movement Disorders in Childhood”, now in its 3rd edition. Dr. Mink was the recipient of the first Dr. Oliver Sacks Award from the Tourette Association of America in recognition of his many contributions to Tourette Syndrome Research, Education, and Advocacy.

Dr. Mink currently serves on several advisory committees including the Executive Board
of the International Child Neurology Association and is Chair of the BDSRA Centers of Excellence Committee. He is a past member of the NINDS Advisory Council, the NINDS Board of Scientific Counselors, and the FDA Pediatric Advisory Committee. He was an original member of the Taskforce on Pediatric Motor Disorders. He is past chair of the Tourette Association of American Scientific Advisory Board. He has served as Associate Editor of Neurology and of Continuum. He is the former President of the Child Neurology Society and was the 2021 recipient of the Hower Award from the Child Neurology Society.
